Frequently Asked Questions
How long does the process take?
Creating beautiful and thoughtful designs takes time. Typically, the full design process can take between 4-8 months, while large-scale projects may take a year or more to complete.
How do you set your design fee?
We understand that each project is unique and has specific requirements. Therefore, following the consultation, we create a personalized proposal outlining the scope of work and our design fees estimate based on the projected hours needed to complete the project.
Where do I start?
To begin, fill out our intake form to tell us about your project! From there, we'll set up an initial phone call where we can discuss your budget, timeline, and goals, and address any questions you might have. If you've already received plans from an architect, we'll review them ahead of the call. If we think we're a good match, we'll plan an on-site or Zoom consultation to gain a better understanding of your project. We're excited to learn more about your vision!
What is the difference between an architect, interior designer, and builder? Why should I hire an interior designer?
Building or renovating a home can be overwhelming, especially when trying to understand the roles of each professional involved. An architect designs the exterior, mechanical, and structural aspects of the home, while an interior designer creates functional and aesthetically pleasing interior spaces. A builder constructs the building based on the plans from the architect and interior designer.
At Emily Lauren Interiors, we work closely with your preferred architect and builder from concept through construction, ensuring that your design vision is executed to the highest standards. We provide guidance in making design decisions, choosing materials and finishes, and creating a cohesive look and feel, saving you time and money while accessing a wide range of resources. We can ensure your project is a success by bringing your vision to life and creating a space you'll love for years to come.
What are interior elevation drawings and why are they essential to the process?
Elevation drawings play a critical role in the design process and are a standard requirement for reputable builders. What sets us apart is that we create all our drawings in-house, enabling us to maintain the quality of design and facilitate clear communication of our design intent with your builder.
